Other treatment regimes commonly include specific and controlled muscle stretches, joint mobilisation and muscle strengthening. joint or muscles immobilisation may be required and your Physiotherapist will apply appropriate taping, bracing, support as required. Some points to consider that may assist in preventing sports injuries occurring are:
- Always ensure adequate warm up and warm down exercises and included with any sort of aerobic or gym activity. Stretching all the major muscle groups and good practices of skills associated with the sport should be incorporated and remembered at all times.
- Ensure you are fit enough to play at the level you are competing in. Never do anything that you are not fit enough to handle as injuries can result.
- Ensure you have an adequate knowledge of the sport to be played or the exercises you are given at a gym.
- Treat any minor injury immediately. Do not let it develop into something more serious.
